Regional accreditations at the high school and university levels in America have a very important history and reputation. In terms of accreditation, the country is mainly divided into 6 main regions. These regions are listed as follows: New England, Middle States, North Central, Southern, Western, and Northwest.
There are 7 main higher education accreditation bodies in these 6 regions:
- New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)
- WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC)
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
- Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC)
- Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
- Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS)
- Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
“These regional accreditations are important for high schools and universities in the United States. For example, according to many global indexes, Harvard University, the most prestigious university in the world, is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).”
In addition to the regional institutions mentioned above, COGNIA, which has a 125-year history in the USA, has become one of the most valid umbrella, national and widespread accreditation institutions in the USA by gathering the above-mentioned regional institutions NCA, NWAC, and SACS.
In addition, some courses in our schools are approved by the American College Board. These courses are called Advanced Placement (AP) courses. These courses are accepted by many respected universities in America.
Apart from this, DEAC is one of the most reputable institutions for the accreditation of distance education institutions in the USA. (Distance Education Accrediting Commission). DEAC is also an accredited institution recognized by many institutions in the USA.
